The neglected area of land got a new lease of life following suggestions made by residents at Moss Row Independent Living Scheme and is a follow on to three previous Green Team projects. Following consultation with residents, a redundant space in poor condition between the bungalows has received a new block paved patio alongside two raised timber planters and two fixed timber tables with seating. The area is discrete and intended for use by all residents of the scheme and is a stunning place to sit out as it is a real “sun trap.” The scheme is only the second one to be completed by the 2023 intake of three apprentices who are being trained in this area by their supervisor, Rochdale resident Phil Cocker.
The Green Team is a project we fund and is part of our long-standing partnership work with Groundwork Greater Manchester (GGM). As part of the project new apprentices are recruited every two years to carry out environmental improvement schemes that we have referred to them, often following request and suggestions by tenants and residents. Since the start of the Green Team back in 2009, there have been over one hundred apprentices that have benefitted and more than three hundred individual environmental schemes have now been completed.
