Extra Care at Hare Hill
We are proud to have opened the borough’s first purpose-built Extra Care scheme, Hare Hill, at Littleborough, marking a defining moment in the way that the borough cares for older people.
The scheme includes 41 two-bed and two one-bed apartments and enables residents to lead independent lives with the reassurance that help is available whenever needed.
A dedicated care team together with a range of assistive technology tailored to your individual needs enable you to retain your independence.
The Extra Care scheme also has a community café and hair salon (both of which are open to the local community), an attractive garden, facilities for residents to pursue hobbies and interests and a comfortable lounge area.
In addition it offers easy access to local amenities such as the beautiful Hare Hill Park, the library and shops.
Hare Hill is run in partnership with Rochdale Borough Council which has appointed a care provider.
The new Extra Care facility is available to all homeowners and tenants who have the appropriate care requirements.

Applying to live at Hare Hill
If you or a family member are interested in applying to move into Hare Hill, you will firstly need to contact Rochdale Council Adult Care Service to request a care needs assessment. The assessment will need to be made to determine the level of care needs and the number of hours per week which will be needed to care for the applicant. As part of this care needs assessment, Rochdale Council Adult Care Service will also undertake a financial assessment to determine the level of contribution the person may need to make to the cost of their care at Hare Hill.
Rochdale Council Adult Care Service can be contacted on 0300 303 8886.
Following the care assessment being completed, you will then need to complete an RBH housing application form and medical questionnaire and send it to the RBH HomeChoice Team.
Visit our find a home section for more information about applying for a home with RBH. You can also visit our customer centre at St Alban's House on Drake Street in Rochdale or call us on freephone 0800 027 7769.
The housing application and medical questionnaire together with the care needs assessment will then be considered by the extra care allocations panel. The panel meet approximately every six weeks. The application is considered and a decision made based on the vacancies at the scheme and the number of hours required to deliver the care.
